In this blog post, I shortly explain a good structure for customer jobs.

Meeting customer

When you have received an offer first thing in a customer project you need to meet with, call with, talk with or etc with the customer. So you can get an idea of what the customer is asking for, what is the rough idea of what it needs. Remember to talk about the budget, the date when it needs to be ready and etc.

Collecting information

In this part you should find out more about the place where your work is going, how does the website look like or anything that is related or needed for you to get an idea of its use and place. The amount of investigating is dependent on the customer work in question. Some might need a lot and some might not even need it.

Finding ideas and concepts

To get an idea I would recommend starting to sketch something, listing details or finding references photos or whatever you seem needed for you to get brainstorming and finding ideas. Here remember to make mind maps and make mood board( collection of ideas for the product by using pinterest, it can help you understand the assignment more and get more ideas for the product)

sketching > show to customer

This is the part where you do some rough sketches of your ideas. In this part, you might start making tens of different versions but I recommend making at least 3 different versions but not too many to show your customer. To get their approval or for them to tell what should be changed and should you make a mix to of them together. If the customer was looking for a mix of a different one I would go through a second check-up before making a clean final piece but there can also be more than two checkups.

Finished product

Here you finish and “polish” your work. Make sure it’s completely ready and finished

give to customer

Now your work is done.

remember to save customer jobs like forwho-what-width(mm or px)-height-bleedifneeded
